Our group coordinates activities within planning, optimization, and decision support at the Molde University College. Planning, optimization, and decision support is here viewed in a wide sense, and is defined by our research activities.
Most of our work is based on optimization, giving rise to methods and implementations that are suitable for use in planning or decision support systems. The methodologies that are applied to solve optimization problems range from classical heuristics through meta-heuristics, to classical optimization methods. The group also works on solving stochastic optimization problems. The group is method oriented, but some target domains are more in focus than others. Most are in the area of logistics, with the highest focus on sea- and land- based routing problems. Other domains appearing in the supply chain are also treated, including production planning and decision support systems.
